
COVID-19 patients in Punjab rises to 33: Total confirmed cases reaches 301 in Pakistan
The number of COVID-19 patients in Punjab has risen to 33 with the confirmation of five new positive cases, Chief Minister Usman Buzdar announced.
✔@UsmanAKBuzdarI can confirm that there are 33 confirmed #COVID19 patients in Punjab. 20 Zaireen quarantined in DG Khan tested positive & have been shifted to hosiptal. 6 patients in Lahore, 5 in Multan and 2 in Gujrat are also under treatment. Best possible facilities r being provided to them.
The Punjab government has enforced section-144 in the province to prohibit public gathering and hoarding of stuff like hand sanitisers and masks etc in order to control the rise of COVID-19 patients in Punjab.
There will be complete ban on opening of educational institutes, marriage halls, holding of exams and religious and public gatherings. In-house marriage functions, will, however, be allowed to facilitate the public.
Decision to this effect was taken at a meeting chaired by Punjab Chief Secretary Major (r) Azam Suleman Khan. Provincial Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid, Additional Chief Secretary Home Momin Agha, IG Police Shoaib Dastgir, secretaries of health and food departments, commissioner Lahore and Bahawalpur attended the meeting. All other divisional commissioners, deputy commissioners, regional police officers and district police officers joined the meeting through video conferencing.
