NUST Patents have reached at the target of nearly 500 in its last decade

The National University of Sciences & Technology is a public research university under administration of Pakistan Armed Forces with its main campus in Islamabad, Pakistan. NUST Patents are the national and international patents published by The National University of Sciences & Technology and are counted and pasted on NUST Patents Wall.

It is indeed a privilege to lead Pakistan’s most vibrant institution, which shines as a beacon of excellence on the horizon of higher education. Its Technology and Innovation Support Centers (TISCs) in each faculty is managing the production of qualitative educational and research outputs i.e. US patents.

Technology and Innovation Support Centers (TISCs) are designed by World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) to provide innovators in developing countries with access to locally based, high quality technology information services and other related services.

Technology and Innovation Support Center was established at National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) on 9th Nov 2017 with collaboration of World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Switzerland, Higher Education Commission (HEC) Pakistan and Intellectual Property Organization (IPO) Pakistan under Office of Research Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC).

Over the years, NUST has developed a knowledge ecosystem which inspires entrepreneurship and stimulates high-impact research. It is now recognized internationally as a research-led, socially-engaged university, distinguished by its multi-disciplinary programmes and focus on emerging technologies. NUST has research collaboration with 109 universities worldwide, with 175 faculty members and 76 students studying in foreign top ranked universities.

The most recent patent has been awarded in April 2018. 12 national and 6 international patents have been filed in which the most recent has been filed in only in July 2018.

 

NUST Patent Wall – An Innovative Step towards Commercialization

National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) established the Pakistan’s First Patent Wall to present its output and to open the doors of commercialization of these patents.

Lt Gen (R) Naveed Zaman, Rector NUST inaugurated the wall on 6 October, 2017 at NUST Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship.  NUST IP Office has filed about 500 national and foreign patents with 96 as approved internationally.
