India should end information blackout in IOK as soon as possible: US State Department

Morgan Ortagus , spokesperson State Department of United States has expressed concern over the grim situation in Indian-Occupied Kashmir following India’s August 5 move of abrogating the special status of the territory and impose severe restriction on public movement and communication, Radio Pakistan reported on Friday.

Talking to media in Washington, State Department Spokesperson, Morgan Ortagus said that the US was concerned about reports about the continuous blockade of internet and mobile phone access in certain regions.

“We continue to be very concerned by widespread detentions and the restrictions on the residents of the region, Morgan Ortagus said. She urged the Indian government to respect human rights and restore access to services such as the internet and mobile networks.
